2021-22 School Year: What were the backgrounds of Richton School District students?

White students made up 71.6% of the 571 students enrolled in Richton School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 5.1% increase over the previous school year.

Richton High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 292 students.

A snapshot of Richton School District schools showed 71.6% of students were white and 23.3% Black.

Richton School District roughly covers two schools within Perry County and has a main office in Richton.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
